Some collaborations are logo swaps. This one is about paint. PRS and Defender have put John Mayer's signature Silver Sky in eight Defender colors, starting with the Arles Blue of Mayer's own truck. Here is every color, what each version costs and where to buy one. The official announcement is on Land Rover USA's PRS page.
The four US-made colors
The US-made Silver Sky gets four classic Defender colors, each with a white pickguard and knobs, a matching painted headstock and a Defender neckplate that names the color. Each color is limited to 500 guitars. Underneath it is the Silver Sky players know: alder body, maple 635JM neck, 25.5-inch scale and three 635JM single-coils.

Arles Blue is the headline: it is the color of the Defender Mayer has owned for years, and the one in the photo with the truck.

Willow Green is the quiet one, a grey-green that looks almost silver in some light.

Portofino Red is the loudest, a glossy classic red that suits the white pickguard.

Sandglow Yellow is a warm, mustard-toned yellow, and the most unusual color in the set.
The four SE colors
The SE Silver Sky gets four contemporary Defender colors, with black pickguards and knobs, a first for any Silver Sky. At $999 it is the sensible way in, and it is the version Mayer said he wanted to give something special to.

Price and where to buy
An authorized PRS dealer, Roundhill Music, listed the US-made models at $3,200 and the SE models at $999 on October 3, 2026, all eight in stock. PRS sells through dealers, so prices should be the same elsewhere; compare before you order. A ninth finish, British Racing Green, is for fundraising only and not for sale.
Who it is for, and the catch
The US model is for the Silver Sky fan who also loves old Land Rovers, or the collector who wants a numbered run. The catch is the price: $3,200 pays mostly for color and paperwork, and a standard Silver Sky plays the same. The $999 SE is the smart buy for players. If you are building a music corner at home, pair it with good headphones from our noise-canceling headphones guide or the hi-fi minded Technics EAH-A1000. For the car side of the story, see our Kimera EVO37 auction story.
Bottom line
A well-judged collaboration: real Defender colors on a proven guitar, and a cheaper SE so it is not only for collectors. More in Instruments and across Music.
