The AeroPress has always been the coffee brewer for people who care about coffee more than about how the brewer looks: plastic, cheap, nearly indestructible. The new AeroPress Premium Walnut flips that. It is on AeroPress's site for $249.95 and it is built from walnut, glass, stainless steel and aluminum.

What changed

The brewing chamber is now hand-crafted double-wall borosilicate glass. AeroPress says that improves heat retention and durability. The plunger and trim are solid clear-grade walnut, and the hardware is stainless steel and aluminum.

What didn't

The method. It is still part French press, part pour-over, part espresso: coffee and water steep together, then you press it through a fine filter with air pressure. AeroPress says a cup takes under two minutes, with low bitterness and no grit. That formula is why the brand claims more than 75,000 five-star reviews in over 70 countries.

Why it matters

Coffee gear has quietly become part of how men furnish a kitchen. The good grinder, the good kettle, the one mug you always reach for. The standard AeroPress never fit that shelf; this one does. The walnut ages with use, and the glass lets you see the brew, which is half the ritual.

Premium Walnut vs. the original

The standard AeroPress and the Premium Walnut do the same job. The differences are in what you touch and what you see:

  • Chamber: plastic on the original; double-wall borosilicate glass here, which AeroPress says keeps heat in better.
  • Plunger and trim: plastic on the original; solid walnut here, which darkens and picks up character with use.
  • Hardware: stainless steel and aluminum instead of plastic.
  • Feel: the original is light and tough enough to throw in a bag; the Premium Walnut is heavier and belongs on a counter.

If you already own the plastic one and love it, the upgrade is about the object, not the cup.

How to get the most from it

The AeroPress is forgiving, but three habits make a real difference. Grind fresh and fairly fine, a little coarser than espresso. Use water just off the boil rather than at a rolling boil, which is kinder to lighter roasts. And press slowly and steadily; forcing it adds bitterness instead of strength. Rinse the filter cap and chamber straight after brewing, and wipe the walnut dry so it does not sit wet.

Who it is for

The man who makes one or two cups at home every morning, likes the AeroPress taste, and wants the object on the counter to look intentional. It also makes a strong gift. If your home setup runs toward cocktails in the evening too, pair it with the basics in our home bar essentials and, if you travel often, the original plastic AeroPress still fits a bag more easily; see our tips on how to pack a carry-on. There is more in our coffee coverage and the Vices hub.

The catch

Price and care. At $249.95 it costs several times more than the plastic original for the same style of coffee. Glass can break, and walnut should be hand-washed and dried, not left soaking. If you only care about the cup, buy the standard AeroPress. If you care about the ritual, this is the nicer way to do it.

FAQ

How much is the AeroPress Premium Walnut?

$249.95 on AeroPress's website, where it was in stock when we checked on September 29, 2026.

Does the Premium Walnut make better coffee than the regular AeroPress?

AeroPress says the double-wall glass improves heat retention. The brewing method is the same, so expect the same style of cup: smooth, low bitterness, fast.

Is it worth it?

Only if design matters to you. The standard AeroPress makes great coffee for a fraction of the price; this one is for the man who wants the brewer to look as good as the cup.
