Red Wing's Heritage line is built around the moc toe boot, and the Norway Moc is the version aimed at winter. It keeps the familiar shape, then adds a lug sole, a padded collar and a leather Red Wing says resists water far better than before. This is our read of Red Wing's own product page, not a wear test.

What it is

The Norway Moc is Heritage style #8213, a 6-inch boot in Copper Rough & Tough leather with the brand's Scotch-grain print. Red Wing describes the leather as a distressed pull-up that looks broken in from the first wear and uses no finishing pigments, so it should keep developing character. The boot is Goodyear welted, built on the 45 last, and made in the USA with S.B. Foot Tanning leather.

The winter details are what set it apart. Red Wing lists a moisture-wicking canvas lining, a padded collar and a removable foam footbed with a felted wool cover. The outsole is a Vibram Fire & Ice lug, which the brand pitches for comfort and traction in cold, wet conditions.

Price and where to buy

Red Wing's page listed the boot at $369.99 on October 3, 2026, in men's sizes 7 to 13, with free returns within 30 days. Buying direct also gets you Red Wing's size and fit tools, which matter on a welted boot. Prices move, so check the page before you order.

How to wear it

This is a cold-weather workwear boot, so keep the rest of the outfit simple. Straight or slightly tapered trousers that break just over the top of the boot work best, in dark denim, khaki or heavy cotton. Add a thick knit and an overshirt, and you have the look we break down in our guide on how to wear an overshirt. The leather's warm copper tone also fits the rugged mood of our 90s style trends for fall.

If you want a pull-on instead of a lace-up, our Red Wing Classic Chelsea review covers the other boot in the family. And for a lower-cost boot at a discount, see the Dr. Martens 1460 deal.

Who it is for, and the catch

It is for the man who walks in real winters and wants one boot that can be resoled, not replaced. The Vibram lug sole is the trade-off: it grips, but it is chunkier than the flat sole on a classic moc, so it looks heavier with slim trousers. At about $370 it also costs more than the Chelsea. Red Wing does not call the boot waterproof, so treat it as water-resistant and look after the leather. Expect some break-in with oiled, welted leather.

Bottom line

The Norway Moc is a sensible answer to a simple problem: a good-looking boot that works when it is cold and wet. If winters are mild where you live, a standard Classic Moc is the simpler buy. If not, this is the one to look at. More picks in Footwear and across Style.

FAQ

How much is the Red Wing Norway Moc?

Red Wing listed it at $369.99 when we checked its product page on October 3, 2026. Prices can change.

Is the Norway Moc waterproof?

Red Wing does not call it waterproof. It says the Scotch-grain Copper Rough & Tough leather gives four times more water resistance, so think water-resistant, not sealed.

How is it different from the Red Wing Classic Moc?

The Norway Moc is built for cold weather: a Vibram Fire & Ice lug sole, a padded collar, a canvas lining and a felt-covered footbed. We have not worn either; this is our read of Red Wing's specs.
