Marshall has made its name on guitar amps, and the Bromley line is where it takes that look to the party. The new Bromley 150 is the small one: a speaker the size of a practice amp, with a handle, a replaceable battery and inputs for a mic or a guitar. It is on pre-order now, and everything below comes from Marshall's own product page. We have not heard it yet.
What it is
The Bromley 150 weighs 13.9 lb (6.3 kg) and measures 290 x 297 x 208 mm. It uses one 90 W and two 55 W class D amplifiers, a sealed cabinet with a passive radiator and what Marshall calls True Stereophonic 360° sound, with drivers firing front and back. Maximum output is listed at 97 dB at 1 meter.

The black PU wrap, brass script logo and knurled knobs are straight from the amp line. It is a good-looking object, which matters if it lives in your living room between parties.
Battery and ports
Marshall lists 40+ hours of playtime from a rechargeable, replaceable LFP (LiFePO4) battery. A 20-minute quick charge gives about five hours, and a full charge takes about three. Wireless is Bluetooth 5.3 with Auracast; wired inputs are a 3.5 mm AUX (in and out) and USB-C. The big feature is the two XLR/6.35 mm combo jacks, each with a volume knob, and an effect control for delay or reverb.

Built to be carried
At IP55, it is rated against dust and water jets, so a damp patio is not a problem. Marshall also lists the speaker as repairable, with parts such as the battery lid, handle, grille and corner caps sold separately on its site.

Who it is for, and the catch
It suits the man who hosts: a backyard, a garage, a rooftop, a karaoke night, or a small acoustic set with a mic and a guitar. It is not a desk speaker, and at $499.99 it costs more than most Bluetooth speakers. If your listening is mostly headphones, our guides to noise-canceling headphones and the Technics EAH-A1000 are better uses of that money. Bottom line
The Bromley 150 is a speaker for people who want sound and style in one box, with real mic inputs and a battery that outlasts the weekend. Marshall ships it from mid-October; check the Marshall product page for the latest price and date. More gadgets in our Tech section and the audio archive.
