Allen Edmonds is known for welted dress shoes made in the USA. The Lionel is its take on a retro runner: a low-top sneaker in nubuck, suede and leather. Zappos has the Dark Brown pair at $262.50, 30% below the $375 list price.
The brand describes it as inspired by the sporting classics that set the standard on the street, with a tri-color flag tab and an injected leather detail at the heel. Inside there is a leather lining and a removable FlyForm EVA insole, and underneath a high-density EVA midsole with a rubber outsole.
The colors are the point. Dark chocolate nubuck and suede against a cream midsole and a gum-colored outsole is a combination that reads premium without shouting.
