Allen Edmonds Parkversboot Is 50% Off at Zappos (Was $550, Now $275)

Allen Edmonds makes its shoes in the USA, and the Parkversboot is its softer, more casual take on the cap-toe chukka. Zappos has the Bitter Chocolate suede version at $275, half of the $550 list price.

It is a suede cap-toe boot with an ankle-high profile and a crepe-textured rubber sole. Allen Edmonds describes it as a deconstructed build, so it is lighter and more flexible than a traditional dress boot. It also has a CustomCork insole and a 360° Goodyear split reverse welt, which is the kind of construction you can resole.

The cap toe and welt stitching are easy to see up close.

Who it is for: a man who wants one good brown boot for smart-casual days: the office, dinner, a weekend in colder weather. The catch: stock is thin. At $275 only single pairs in sizes 8, 8.5 and 10.5 showed as available when we checked, and other listings on the same page were higher. Allen Edmonds' own site blocks our tools, so we could not compare its price.
